Laurel Hill Center is seeking a full time Peer Support Specialist to join our Housing team.

Peer Support Specialists provide individual support in the office, home, or community to participants receiving rental assistance from the Oregon Health Authority to improve success at living independently in the community.  Peer Support Specialists establish relationships with participants and provide a variety of skill training and supports through a collaborative partnership with the participant, community providers, and natural supports.

Job Responsibilities:        


  • Assist participants in clarifying housing goals, completing rental applications, and establishing residence in the community.
  • Assist participants in developing skills for community living and good tenancy which may include budgeting and bill paying, using public transportation, maintaining a clean safe apartment, accessing benefits, and enrolling in community activities.
  • Assist individuals in identifying natural and mental health supports to promote recovery and maintenance in the community setting.
  • Use mentoring and modeling to assist participants in improving their quality of life
  • Clearly and consistently communicate with Team Leader about the needs, experience, and observations of program participants and ways to improve the program to support participant success
  • Participate in agency and staff team meetings as needed
  • Complete necessary documentation using a computer in a timely and accurate manner
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Skills:

    • Must have current and valid Oregon driver's license in accordance with LHC vehicular policy and procedure
    • Experience and willingness to identify oneself as a person with experience as a consumer of mental health services, particularly individuals whose lived experiences commensurate with the participants of LHC services
    • Documentation of successful completion of a background and fingerprint check as specified by Oregon law as well as a urinalysis drug screen
    • Ability to use a computer, cell phone and e-mail for documentation and communication
    • Peer Support Specialist certification, including completion of state approved 40 hour PSS training course and Traditional Health Worker registry number
