Laurel Hill Center is seeking a part time Optical lab technician to join our team. To be eligible for this position, you must have a documented qualifying disability.

SWEEP Optical produces eyewear for Oregon state agencies, OHP participants, and wholesale customers.  The Lead Technician maintains equipment, provides technical skills, and trains other staff within the lab to ensure the production of quality eyewear within specifications of contracts and SWEEP policies.

Job Responsibilities:        

  Keep equipment and work area clean

  Complete initial QA and check-in lenses

  Complete surface room layout and blocking

  Use generators to cut lenses to prescribed curves

  Perform refining and polishing of lenses

 

  Hard-coat and/or tint lenses

  Assemble and align edged lenses into frames

  Complete final checkout and quality control

  Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

    • Ability to operate machinery and assemble product independently, to productivity standards
    • Fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and attention to detail
    • Ability to use small hand tools, including eye glass screwdrivers, to assemble and correctly align 15-20 jobs per hour
    • Prioritize tasks, manage competing demands, adapt to changing work environment, and handle unexpected events
    • Follow directions of manager and lead technicians, including safety rules and regulations
    • Work and communicate professionally with others within a confined space
    • Read and recognize numbers
    • Ability to sit or stand continuously for 2-4 hours at a time
    • Ability to lift 30 pounds
    • Ability to tolerate moderate noise levels and heat from machinery in work area
    • Pass drug screening and criminal history check
